46.3% of participants with panic disorder also had Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS). This is what a study published in the Annals of Clinical Psychiatry says.
If that is not enough look at this: According to a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, upto 90% of people seeking treatment for IBS have one or more psychiatric problems.
IBS “is a common disorder of the intestines that leads to crampy pain, gassiness, bloating, and changes in bowel habits.”
People with IBS may experience constipation; diarrhea; or both.
People with IBS also may experience the urge to move the bowels but be unable to do so. Severity of the symptoms of IBS vary. Some people have mild IBS while others may be disabled by it.
If diarrhea or constipation is worsened by stress and anxiety it’s time to see a doctor. If you have been diagnosed with IBS and it seems to worsen when you are stressed you can try the IBS stress kit. It offers a comprehensive approach to controlling IBS that worsens with stress.
